jQuery wasn’t supposed to be a designer’s best friend, but there are some days I am sure it was created just for us designers. Used right, it can really help you “do more” as the tag line goes. Yes, it is not easy to understand and sometimes frustrating, but being able to create cool effects with no need to write lines and lines of Java Script, something most designers don’t know how to do, is very cool.

This post is devoted to some really cool jQuery plugins and Dreamweaver extensions that would make your work shine in no time.

jQuery Accordion Image Slider by AJ Clarke

This is a great option for anyone looking for a cool horizontal images slider, a demo is included and with very little work, you can make it work.

4 Level’s Lightbox Extension for Dreamweaver

Lightbox is every where you go, but making it work with in Dreamweaver is heavenly. This extension is easy to use, and best of all it’s Free. A real life saver for gallery design.

Sliding Boxes and Captions with jQuery

This is actually a tutorial not a plug in. Here you’ll learn how to slide and shift rollover images around.

Easy Rotator

This is a really cool plug in that we use a lot. It works from within Dreamweaver and a stand alone (the stand along version is our choice). One thing to keep in mind: this will inevitably cost you since the free version has very limited options. But it’s worth it!

Sliding Door Effect Tutorial with jQuery

This is certainly one of our favorites, it’s a tutorial that helps you create a rollover effect that reveals something under or by a photo. Might get a bit complicated but well worth it from a user stand point.
