Don’t you love the Winter Olympics? We do! And in celebration of the winter games, now entering their 2nd week we bring you 5 logos that represent 20 years of Winter Games Design ( if you take into account the fact that planning for the games starts 4 or more years before the games).
If you’re looking for examples on how design has changed over the past 2 decades this is a very good example. The design aesthetics of the 1994 and those of 2010 tell the story well. And along the way we see the evolution in color, fonts and layout choices.
A few things worth mentioning here:
1. Only the 1994 games have a Serif font. Since those games all the other logos have been created in Sans Serif fonts.
2. You can see a local flavor in each of the logos, which is very clear in both the Nagano 1998 and Vancouver 2010 logos.
3. The current logo, for the 2010 games plays homage to the indigenous peoples of that region and that ads a clear flavor to the logo.
